The auntie helping with the chicken rice stall at the hawker center near my place somehow know that I worked in the lawyer's office. Initially she like almost everyone else thought I'm a lawyer. I've to explain clearly to her I'm not. Anyway she always talk to me & give me more chilli which is sweet. The other day I bump into her during her break & she told me, her son is thinking of getting into law. He has got good grades & what do I think? Do Lawyers make alot of money, yes , no?
Wow... that's a tough one. Told her it's hard work initially. Also it's hard to get into the big firms. It's nothing like what we watch on the TV, not so glamorous. The popular saying " Make crime pay. Become a Lawyer" couldn't be more wrong. From what I see this don't
really apply to Singapore. Our lawyers don't make much thru'
defending people, Spore is just not that kind of society- thank
goodness. But I could be wrong though, things are changing. Anyway I'm just working in one firm, I don't have all the information.
However when the property market is vibrant, yes lawyers do make more. At least my boss does.
